Snare drums

A person who wants to set up a snare drum should be able to do so without many problems, however he or she must remember to do a couple of things, including:

• Set aside a spot – A spot for snare drums should be set aside. In a drum set, the snare drum will typically to on the right side of the high hat and on the left side of the toms and other drums.

• Use a tripod – People who fear that the snare drum will not stay in place when it is being used will sometimes use tripods. Tripods are excellent at stabilizing these drums and keeping them from moving around.

• Check the snares – The snares are what make a snare drum a snare drum. The snares are the thin chains that go across the bottom of the drum. It is important to make sure that these snares stay in good shape in order for the drum to be able to make the desired sound.

• Turn it upright – After the snares have been checked, the drum should be turned upright and placed into the tripod. Be careful when placing the drums in the tripod in order to make sure the snares are not pulled on. The snare part of a snare drum should never be struck. Striking it could cause damage.

• Tighten it up – The last thing a person setting up a snare drum must do is tighten up the drum on the tripod. If the drum shakes or wiggles while it is played, it will not produce the desired sound that a snare drum is supposed to make.
